Tonight’s NBA Matchups

Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors

   - Denver will take this game. The Warriors have proven over the year that Stephen Curry can’t win a big game all by himself, though he can keep them in games. David Lee went down the other night, and I think that will make the difference in this game. Expect the Nuggets to win by 10.

   - Nuggets win 112-100

Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks

   - Brandon Jennings was obviously kidding when he said the Bucks would win in 6. Lebron goes off again, triple double maybe? Maybe.

   - Heat win 108-91

NY Knicks vs. Boston Celtics

   - This is an interesting one. My heart says Boston, but my head says NY. I have a hard time going against Boston, because they have proven again and again that you can’t count them out. I think they will still make noise in this series, but not tonight. I wouldn’t be shocked if they lose tonight, and go and win 2 in Boston. But with that said, the Knicks will get it done tonight in the Garden. Expect another big game from Melo.

   - Knicks win 93-87

How Many Games Can the Heat’s Streak Continue?

The Miami Heat are in the midst of a 14 game winning streak, in which they have won 9 by double digits. Lebron James has been an animal, averaging more than 29 points a game and shooting well above 50%. In their past 2 games they faced major opportunities to end the streak, in the Memphis Grizzlies and the New York Knicks. They handled both teams narrowly, winning by 7 and 6 points respectively, before they went and took care of business against the T-Wolves.. The question that looms, is how long can the streak continue? Here is the Heat’s upcoming schedule.

vs. Orlando

vs. Philadelphia

vs. Indiana

vs. Atlanta

@ Philadelphia

@ Milwaukee

@ Toronto

@ Boston

Who are the real threats to beat the Heat in their next 8 games? The two obvious answers are Indiana and Boston, as both these teams have given them significant troubles in the past couple years. I can’t see the T-Wolves, Magic, 76ers, Hawks, Bucks or Raptors giving them any sort of issues, and if they can handle the Pacers, expect the Heat to ride this win streak to well over 20 games. At this point, who can beat them? Indiana is the only game I could legitimately see them dropping in the next couple weeks, and that game is at home. Who’s to say the Heat can’t win 25 or 30 straight? Towards the end of March, they meet the Bulls, Spurs, and Knicks in the span of 5 days. If the streak lasts that long, expect them to drop one of those three games; but we have a while til then. With all that said, there is no reason to believe that this streak is ending anytime soon.

What To Expect From the New York Yankees in 2013

If you take a look at the Yankees projected opening day lineup, things look a bit different. Derek Jeter is still recovering from his postseason ankle injury, with Eduardo Nunez taking over. Curtis Granderson broke his arm off a fastball this past weekend, and will be out 10 weeks with Juan Rivera filling in the vacant outfield spot as Brett Gardner shifts to CF. The catcher position will be vacant, oops! I mean filled by Chris Stewart. And don’t even bother asking about A-Rod, as the much more capable Kevin Youkilis will play 3B. The rest of the lineup is filled by the likes of Ichiro, Cano, and Teixeira. It’s the same ‘ol starting rotation with Sabathia, Kuroda, Pettite, Nova and Hughes. Mariano Rivera, 42, looks to be at full health and ready to roll. But with their depleted roster, what can we expect from NY this year?
The Yankees are still gonna win a decent amount of ballgames. But with their depleted roster and the level of competition in the scary good AL East, the Yankees may find themselves on the outside looking in. Their starting rotation is solid, atleast in their top 3. Nova and Hughes still provide plenty of question marks, but Sabathia, Kuroda and Pettite represent a legitamite top 3 if they can stay healthy. Barring any further setbacks, the Yankees have a chance to win 90 games, but don’t hold your breath. Even that might not be enough in the crowded East. In reality, the Yankees will probably win around 86 games, with the Blue Jays, Rays, Red Sox and Orioles vying for the top spot. This is not your grandpa’s Yankees, and their 2013 outlook is not all that bright.

This is not.
